Your Mid-Year Hair Check-In

June 29, 20262 min read

Six months in. How is your hair actually doing?

We're halfway through the year. Summer is officially here, and if you stop for a second and actually look at your hair, you might notice it's telling you something.

It's a good time to do a quick honest assessment. Not because anything is wrong, but because a little awareness now saves a lot of corrections later.

What to actually look at.

Your ends.

Run your fingers down the last couple inches of your hair. Do they feel smooth, or rough and slightly fuzzy? Rough ends are split ends in progress. They don't repair themselves. A trim removes the damage before it travels up the shaft and becomes a bigger issue.

Your color.

Has your color shifted since your last appointment? Sun exposure is one of the most common reasons color looks brassy or washed out by mid-summer. If you're blonde, you may be seeing more yellow. If you're brunette, your color might look flat or faded. A gloss or toner refresh can correct both without a full color appointment.

Your scalp.

Is it itchy, flaky, or feeling more oily than usual? Summer heat increases sweating and oil production. If your scalp has felt off, it's worth paying attention. A clarifying shampoo or a Scalp Spa treatment can reset it.

Your routine.

Are the products you're using actually working for summer, or are they leftover from winter? Heavy creams and rich conditioners that felt great in January can weigh hair down and contribute to buildup in the heat.

What this time of year tends to do to hair.

June through August is when hair takes the most environmental damage of the year. UV exposure weakens the cuticle. Chlorine and salt water strip moisture. Heat styling on top of already-stressed hair adds up.

This isn't meant to be alarming. Most of it is totally manageable. But the clients who come in mid-summer with healthy, great-looking hair are usually the ones who made a few smart adjustments early, not the ones who pushed through until something broke.

A simple mid-year reset.

If you've been putting off a haircut, now is a good time. A trim, a gloss, or a conditioning treatment can genuinely shift how your hair behaves for the rest of summer.

Not sure what your hair actually needs right now?

Come in and let us take a look.
That's what we're here for.
