Is Your Hair Ready for Summer?

What humidity actually does to your hair, and how to work with it.

Summer in Wisconsin hits fast. One week it's mild and manageable, the next you're walking outside and your hair has a plan of its own.

Humidity is the main culprit. Here's what's actually happening: hair absorbs moisture from the air, which causes the shaft to swell unevenly. That unevenness is frizz. If your hair is already dry or porous from color or heat styling, it soaks up even more, and the result is more unpredictable.

So what actually helps?

1. A fresh cut makes a bigger difference than you'd think.

Split ends grab humidity and amplify frizz. A trim removes the damage that's working against you. You don't have to go shorter. Just fresher.

2. Your shampoo routine needs a summer adjustment.

Sweat, sunscreen, and product build up faster in summer. A clarifying wash once a week clears the slate. Follow it with a hydrating conditioner to put moisture back in on your terms, not the air's.

3. Lightweight leave-in, not heavy cream.

Heavy products weigh hair down and can make frizz worse in humidity. A light leave-in or serum applied to damp hair creates a barrier without the weight. Ask us what works for your hair type.

4. A smoothing treatment can change everything.

If frizz is a real daily battle for you, a Brazilian Blowout or Keratin treatment is worth the conversation. Results last 12 weeks or more and significantly reduce styling time. We offer a lighter express version too, which lasts about 4 weeks and is great for maintaining between full treatments.

The honest truth about summer hair

Most people fight humidity instead of planning for it. The clients who have the easiest summer hair aren't using 10 products. They've got a good cut, the right products for their texture, and realistic expectations about what their hair does in July.

If you're not sure where your hair stands, come in.

We'll take a look and help you figure out what it actually needs right now.
