How to choose your next look and what to expect at your appointment.

September is when color gets interesting again. Summer blondes start going warmer. Brunettes add depth. And clients who've been in maintenance mode for months are ready to try something new.

If you've been thinking about a color change, this is the season for it. Here's how we think about fall color, and how to make sure you get exactly what you're going for.

What fall color actually means.

Fall color tends to shift toward warmth. Honey blondes, caramel tones, copper, chocolate browns with dimension. The light changes in fall and so does what reads well in it. Colors that look washed out in the summer sun can look rich and beautiful by October.

That said, fall color doesn't mean you have to go dark. A lot of our clients stay light but add warmth through a gloss or toner. A simple tone shift can feel like a completely different look without a full color appointment.

How to actually communicate what you want.

Photos help. Not because we copy them exactly, but because they tell us about tone and depth in a way that words often don't. Warm blonde means something different to everyone. A photo says exactly what you mean. You can even show us what you don’t like about a photo, and that still gives us a clearer picture of what you want!

What to think about before a big color change.

Going significantly lighter or darker in one appointment isn't always realistic depending on your starting point. We'll always be honest about what's achievable in a single session and what might take more time to do right.

The health of your hair matters first. If your hair is dry or damaged from summer, we may recommend a treatment alongside your color service. This isn't upselling. It's protecting the result.
